Founded by Pillars of the Community
renDr. Pope was born and raised in South Pittsburg, Tennessee in a household of 10 children; there were 2 brothers and 2 sisters and five 1st cousins all raised together, which may have contributed to his “love of children and helping those in need”. He left McReynolds High School in 1956 to join the Air Force. He later completed high school in Denver and began higher education at Pueblo Colorado, in 1960, transferring to Gonzaga University in 1962 where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree and played basketball.
His desire to help and serve people landed him in West Africa in the Peace Corps until 1969, where he met his soon to become wife Jo. He finished his degree as a Doctor of Medicine in 1974 at the University of Washington. Together they moved to Chehalis in 1979 and opened Chehalis Children’s Clinic. They have served the children and families of Lewis and surrounding counties in some capacity ever since. They have three children: 2 sons and a daughter, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Isaac enjoys family, bowling, and cooking.
Dr. Pope founded Pope’s Kids Place in 1995 with the help of his wife Jo. In 1998 they opened a two room pediatric clinic and a two bedroom respite center. During his tenure Dr. Pope has received 14 service awards at state, local and national levels including the coveted Jefferson Award for his treatment and contribution to the betterment of the medical community and his work with children with special needs.
Pope’s Place Community Support
Partnerships allow us to closely work with other entities for collaboration to coordinate and assess individualized care plans for our families. Medical resources, education and childrens’ services are among the many who provide valuable support for our programs.
Our community partnership support enables us to continue our mission. We continue to grow our communication efforts as we reach out to our valuable community partners. From advocacy in government, to community non-profits and local businesses, we work together to build our program to meet the needs of our organization and our families.
